Discover all our spice cakes Maison Toussaint, softer than Dijon gingerbread. Traditionally tasted during the holiday season, the spice cakes are enjoyed all year round and even more so at afternoon tea. In addition to our Original spice cake, Maison Toussaint also offers an exclusive range of spicy cupcakes. Our master craftsman, Pascal Toussaint has developed original recipes, full of flavors to delight your taste buds. We rigorously select a fragrant honey and a balanced blend of spices to give our cakes such an authentic taste. They will accompany your desserts and can be transformed into delicacies for tea or coffee, buttered, with spread or without accompaniment.
Often used in many recipe ideas, you can use our spice cakes as little goat cheese canapés, but also to accompany your foie gras or other savory dishes. Our spice cake received an award in 2007 and 2008 and was voted best Dijon Gingerbread by the Dijon Gingerbread Brotherhood.
Maison Toussaint also manufactures candied orange spice cakes, with nuts or with a delicious blend of apricots, figs, prunes and grapes. To satisfy all gourmets!
We have also declined our recipe for Dijon gingerbread in a special toast and foie gras style for the end of the year celebrations. Developed with starred chefs, it is slightly firmer to pair with foie gras or cheeses.
Our spice cakes will keep their flavor longer if you store them away from heat and humidity and if you close the packaging carefully after each tasting.
Historically, the spice cake dates back to antiquity, and is therefore not new. The recipe as we know it today descends from mi-kong, a Chinese honey bread. It was in the Middle Ages, during the Crusades, that the recipe reached Europe. Also discover our range shortbread to enjoy at any time of the day. They are handcrafted and are 100% French.
